Responsibilities:
The Assistant Vice President of Practice Management provides leadership, direction and administration of all aspects of clinic activities for assigned specialties to ensure accomplishment of organizational goals and objectives. Reports directly to the President of of Health Quest Physician Enterprise (HQPE). Supervises department heads and oversees the activities of all clinic staff and activities.

Operations
Recommends medical practice policy positions regarding administrative matters.
Consults with relevant staff and departments prior to recommending and establishing new policies to ensure availability of support and resources.
Directs and supervises all medical practice activities through department heads and administrative support staff. Consults with and advises department heads on a regular basis.
Provides assistance to supervisory personnel in establishing department philosophy and objectives related to staffing and performance standards, policies and procedures, job classifications, compliance with government regulations.
Serves as liaison and channel of communication between PLC leadership and its committees, the medical and administrative staff.
Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies governing health care delivery and the rules of accrediting bodies. Continually monitors operation, programs, and physical properties. Initiates appropriate changes.
Encourages the integration of the medical practices with the community through effective communication and public relations programs.
Represents the medical practice in its relationships with other health organizations, government agencies, and third party payers.
Possesses strong critical thinking skills to resolve complex administrative issues.
Maintains professional affiliations and enhances professional growth and development to keep current in the latest trends in clinic administration.
Maintains strictest confidentiality.
Performs related work as required.

Strategy / Business Development
Participates with Physician Leadership Council in charting and implementing the medical practices' mission in response to changing needs of the community.
Recommends, develops, and updates strategic long-range plans for the specialty-based clinics to support the medical group's philosophy and goals.
Informs Physician Leadership Council about current trends, problems and activities in the medical field to facilitate policy making.
Assist in successful growth of HQ through respectful, constructive and an energetic style.

Quality Assurance
Coordinates with members of HQMP's management team, medical staff and other personnel the monitoring of medical activities to ensure fulfillment of the organization's and community's needs for quality health care.
Responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of operational policies and procedures and the delivery of quality patient care programs in a cost-effective manner

Finance
Coordinates the long-range financial development and management of the medical practices within the service line.
Ensures the provision of affordable health care services by the utilization and organization of resources (i.e. human, financial and physical).
Prepares budgets independently and assists Practice Managers with preparation and monitoring of annual capital and operating budgets, including monthly variance reports and financial statement review.
Leads revenue enhancement and cost control projects with Division Chiefs and Practice Managers.
Develops key financial indicators in conjunction with the HQ Physician Enterprise President and VP of Finance and/or HQ CFO.

Human Capital
Participates and coordinates selection and training of new managers.
Coordinates efforts of medical staff, PLC and administrative staff in the recruitment, development, evaluation, and retention of medical personnel.
Develops improved management techniques and practices. Motivates and leads management team. Provides mentoring to assist in management development.
Resolves any medical-administrative problems and keeps lines of communications open with staff to ensure high employee morale and a professional, healthful clinic atmosphere.

Knowledge of the principles and practices of health planning and management sufficient to manage, direct and coordinate the operation of a major health care organization. Knowledge of the purposes, organization and policies of the community's health systems sufficient to interact with other health care providers. Knowledge of the policies and procedures of a clinic sufficient to direct its operations and to provide effective patient care. Knowledge of the principles and practices of employee development sufficient to ensure organizational productivity. Knowledge of computer programs and applications. Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion and decision making to achieve organizational objectives. Skill in analyzing situations accurately and taking effective action. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, policy-making bodies, third party payers, patients and the public. Skill in organizing work, making assignments and achieving goals and objectives. Skill in exercising judgment and discretion in developing, applying, interpreting and coordinating departmental policies and procedures. Ability to assume responsibility and exercise authority over assigned work functions. Ability to establish and maintain quality control standards. Ability to organize and integrate organizational priorities and deadlines. Ability to prepare comprehensive reports.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree, with a Master's preferred in health care administration or a related field; a minimum of ten years of executive level experience, including mid-to large-sized physician practice management preferably as part of a hospital-owned entity. Key areas such as physician partnership, staffing models, physician compensation, quality, utilization, case management, and population health akey to this role. Demonstrated knowledge of finance, cost control, productivity enhancement, operations, information systems and patient access are all required.
